Arizona State Lands Verbal From Florida 4A State Finalist Catherine Vaughan
NEW COMMIT: Arizona State University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Catherine Vaughan of Tampa, Florida.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I couldn’t be more grateful to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Arizona State University. I absolutely would not be the athlete I am today without the steadfast support of my parents, coaches, teammates, and friends. I can’t thank you guys enough, as well as the coaching staff of @sundevilswimdive for giving me this opportunity. Looking forward to the next four in Tempe 😈 #forksup“
A talented sprint freestyler and backstroker, Vaughan trains year-round with Tampa Bay Aquatics and won the 50 free and 50 back at the Spring Area 3 Championships back in February. Last summer, she earned two personal bests at Cary Futures.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.65
- 100 free – 51.04
- 200 free – 1:52.22
- 100 back – 57.20
Currently a junior at H.B. Plant High School, Vaughan placed fifth in the 100 free and seventh in the 100 back at the 2022 Florida 4A State Championships. She raced to 10th in both the 50 free and 100 back during her sophomore season.
