Arizona DII State Champion Tate Bahti Delivers In-State Verbal to Wildcats for 2021
NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker and IMer Tate Bahti of Phoenix, Az. has pledged his in-state verbal commitment to the University of Arizona and will arrive in Tuscon in the fall of 2021.
He will join Alex McMahon and Connor West as a member of the Wildcats’ class of 2025.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Arizona to further my academic and athletic career. Thank you to all of my friends, family and coaches for pushing me to get here. Also thank you to the amazing coaching staff and team at Arizona for being so welcoming. Bear Down!”
Bahti, who owns the Winter Juniors standard in the 100 breast, swims year-round with Phoenix Swim Club and most recently earned silver in the 200 breast at the Arizona Senior Open Championships. He raced three events at Juniors West in December and recorded a pair of top-5 finishes at the Arizona LCM Open last summer.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 56.96
- 200 breast – 2:04.03
- 200 IM – 1:52.57
- 400 IM – 4:02.37
A current junior at Sunnyslope High School, Bahti won the 100 breast and collected bronze in the 200 IM in 2019 while placing fourth in the former event during his sophomore season at the Arizona DII State Championships. He also raced to gold in the 100 breast at the Arizona Meet of Championships as a junior.
