Arizona Bears Down Into Class of 2026 Recruiting With Verbal From Breaststroker Eleni Gewalt
NEW COMMIT: Spring Grove, Ill. native and Junior National qualifier Eleni Gewalt has handed the University of Arizona their first verbal commitment for the 2022-23 season and beyond.
Regarding her commitment, she said:

Primarily a breastsstroker, Gewalt does her club swimming with Pleasant Prairie Patriots and most recently placed sixth in the 100m breast at the TYR 18&U Spring Cup last month after winning the 100 breast at the Wisconsin 13&O Championships in March. She raced the 100m breast at the Toyota U.S. Open in November and took fourth in that event at December’s 18&U Winter Championships.

- 50 breast – 28.51
- 100 breast – 1:01.74
- 200 breast – 2:16.38
- 50 free – 23.78
- 100 free – 51.15
- 200 free – 1:53.13
- 50 fly – 26.14
- 100 fly – 58.00
- 200 IM – 2:07.60
Currently a junior at Richmond-Burton Community High School, Gewalt raced to fifth in the 100 breast at the Illinois State Championships as a sophomore. In 2021, she won the 100 free and was the 100 breast runner-up at the IHSA Sectional Championships.
Gewalt would’ve scored in the B-final of the 100 breast at the 2021 Pac-12 Championships where the Wildcats finished seventh overall. She’ll add her talents to a training group led by Hannah Farrow and Jade Neser.
