Are You A Top 20 Swimmer In Your Zone?

Each week, USA Swimming releases their top 20 zone times. Swimming World will provide a unique analysis of each zone. Here, you’ll find the zones’ strengths, top athletes, and top times. 

USA Swimming Eastern Zone

Girls: Zoe Skirboll zoomed to five new top times for the 11-year old girls age group. She posted zone bests in the 50 and 100 free, 50 breast, 100 breast, and 50 fly. Angeline Harris provided the only new top time for the 12-year old girls in the 100 breast.

Kate Douglass hit two new top times for the 14-year old girls in the 50 and 100 free. Lauryn Johnson (100 fly) and Peters Township Swim Club’s Abby Hay (200 breast) also posted zone bests. Sarah Grinalds (50 free), Katie Pollock (100 free), Olivia Jack (100 breast), and Claire McNeary (200 IM) all swam top times for the 15-year old girls.

A slew of 16-year old girls posted new zone bests. Lindsay Stone led the way with two top times in the 200 free and 500 alongside Kristen Romano‘s two top times in the 100 free and 100 fly. Margaret Aroesty also notched two top times in the 100 breast and 200 IM. Nicole Parry  (50 free) and Marcie Maguire (100 back) rounded out the age group with new zone bests.

Boys: Liam Redman of The Fish tore up the 11-year old boys age group in the Eastern Zone this past week. He swam four top-ranked times in the 50 back, 100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 IM. Sean Santos (Rockville Montgomery Swim Club) chipped in a zone best in the 400 IM, while Long Island Aquatic Club’s Ilan Goldberg dropped a top-ranked 1000 free in 11:07.44.

Nick Radkov of Matchpoint NYC contributed the only top time for the 12-year old boys with his 10:34.63 1000-yard free. In the 13-year old boys age group, Snow Swimming’s Jack Moore posted two top times in the 200 IM and 100 free. Antonio Octaviano of Radnor Aquatic Club (100 breast) and David Curtiss of the Tri-Hampton YMCA Swim Team (50 free) also posted top times for the age group.

Ian Liu of Scarlet Aquatics (200 breast) and Nick Mudry of Upper St. Clair Swim Club notched zone bests for the 14-year old boys. Snow Swimming’s Colin Hughes (200 free) and Allegheny North Swim Club’s Mason Gonzalez (100 free) topped the 15-year old boys’ list.

Hughes’s teammate Joaquin Gabriel posted the top 200 breast time for the 17-year old boys. Meanwhile, Mudry’s teammate Kevin Liu swam a 1:47.73 200 back to lead the age group. Flynn Minuth (200 IM) and Mount Lebanon Aqua Club’s Brian Ramsey (100 breast) hit zone bests times as well.

In the 18-year old boys age group, Cole Buese notched top times in the 200 back and 200 fly. Michael Craddock also swam two zone bests in the 200 breast ad 400 IM. Ian Ho (50 free), Jarod Kehl (500 free), Samuel Rice (1650 free), Colin McHugh (100 breast), Brent Benedict (100 fly), and Thomas Dillinger (200 IM) rounded out the Eastern Zone with new top times.

USA Swimming Central Zone

Girls: Club Wolverine swimmer Lindsay Orringer-Hau clocked a number of zone-topping swims for the 11-year old girls in the 200 free, 500 free, 200 back, and 200 fly. Gracie Olsen topped two events, the 100 free and 200 breast, while Maggie Mallett of the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins (50 back), Taylin Phrasivilay of Team Foxjet (100 breast), Addison Donfris of Barrington Swim Club (400 IM), and Holly Pringle (100 back and 50 fly) also swam top times.

Tri-city Area YMCA Tidewaves swimmer Eleni Kotzamanis topped the 12-year old girls in the 100 free, 200 free, 50 and 100 back. Katie Kubiak of Ozaukee Aquatics impressed by swimming three zone bests in the 100 fly, 100 IM, and 50 breast. Marin O’Brien of the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins bolted to the top of the 50 free rankings with her 24.94. Ellie Macphail also posted a zone bests with her 200 back.

Schroeder YMCA Swim Team’s Kaylyn Schoof busted out three top swims in the 13-year old girls’ 100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 IM. Courtney Harris of the Rec Plex Sharks Swim Team sprinted atop the 50 and 100 free ranks, while Hannah Liu of Patriot Aquatic Club (100 breast), Mary Jania of St. Charles Swim Team (200 breast), Elizabeth Paterson of Backline Aquatics (200 back), and Kaylee Williams of Kingfish Aquatic Club of Waterford (1650 free) also swam top times.

Karina Franz of Flyers Aquatic Swim Team topped the butterfly events with a 55.33 100 fly and 2:02.76 200 fly for the 14-year old girls. Abbi Schwartz‘s 55.79 100 back and AquaStorm’s Carly Palmer‘s 1:04.17 100 breast were fresh zone-topping swims.

Paige Mitchell of Parkway Swim Club (200 fly), Lillie Hosack of Ozaukee Aquatics (100 fly), and Annette Schultz (200 free) swam top times for the 15-year old girls. In the 16-year old girls age group, Rachel Wittmer (50 free and 100 fly) and Evie Pfeifer (200 free and 200 IM) each swam two new zone bests. Carly Quast also cranked out a top-ranked 100 back.

A trio of 17-year old girls dropped two top times each last weekend in the Central Zone. Claire Doerr of the Lake Erie Silver Dolphins (500 and 1650 free), Bella Smith (50 and 100 free), and Madison Preiss (100 breast and 200 IM) all had impressive zone-topping swims.

Katie Drabot of Ozaukee Aquatics torched the 18-year old girls age group last weekend with zone bests in the 100, 200, and 500 free. She also topped the 200 IM rankings in the zone. Lindsey Horejsi (50 free and 100 breast), Anna Lynch (1650 free), Madison Myers (100 back), Alice Treuth (200 back), Ana Sofia Revilak Fonseca (100 fly), and Natalie Smith (200 fly and 400 IM) also contributed new top times.

 Boys: In the 11-year old boys age group, Alec Filpovic of the St. Charles Swim Team cranked out two top times in the 100 and 200 free. Club Wolverine’s Ben Kurniawan (200 back) and Green Bay YMCA’s Ozan Kalafat (50 breast) also swam top times for the age group.

Hayden Zheng of the Aquajets Swim Team dominates the 12-year old boys age group. He holds nine top spots, and swam four new zone bests this past weekend in the 50 and 100 breast and the 50 and 100 fly. Tyler Hong of Lake Shore Swim Club also posted a top time in the 200 free.

Jacob Bening of River City Aquatics popped off three zone bests for the 13-year old boys in the 500 free, 100 and 200 back. Flyer Aquatic Swim Team teammates Carter Nelson (100 free) and Alex Rosenkranz (400 IM) chipped in new top times alongside Arkansas Dolphins Swim Team’s Alex Ware (50 free).

Rockwood Swim Club’s Jack Dolan rocked five new 14-year old boys top times in the 50, 100, and 200 free, 100 back, and 100 fly. Peter Larson of the Edina Swim Club (200 back) and Alex Gelman of the Parkway Swim Club (400 IM) also swam top times in the age group.

David Madej of SwimStrongsville (100 free), Matthew Hillmer of the CSP Tideriders (1650 free), Will Myhre of the St. Charles Swim Team (100 breast), and Brogan Davis of River City Aquatics (200 fly) all swam top times for the 15-year old boys. Sam Iida of the Glenview Titan Aquatic Club provided the lone change atop the 16-year old boys age group with his 1:59.66 200 breast.

Mason Miller topped the 17-year old boys’ 100 free and 100 fly this past weekend. Nick Alexander of the Flyers Aquatic Swim Team also posted two new top times in the 200 back and 200 fly. Lake Erie Silver Dolphins swimmer Rex Riley (100 breast) and Grant House of Countryside YMCA (400 IM) also topped the age group.

The 18-year old boys showcased a number of new top times. Henrique Painhas swam top times in the 100 and 200 fly. He also notched a zone best in the 100 back. Jordan O’Brien zoomed to the top spot in the 100 and 200 breast. Jack Walsh (200 IM), Juistin Hove (1650 free), Griffin Schaetzle (200 back), Bowen Anderson (500 free), Sean Tate (200 free), Tabahn Afrik (100 free), and Kyle Decoursey (50 free) also swam zone bests.

USA Swimming Southern Zone

Girls: Dynamo’s Rye Ulett made some serious waves in the girls’ 11-year old age group with four new top times in the 50 free, 100 free, 50 fly, and 100 IM. Summer Chmielweski of the Sarasota YMCA Sharks (1000 free) and Kiara Caamano of the North Palm Beach Swim Club (1650 free) added top times in the distance races.

Olivia McMurray of Swim Florida provided the only new top times for the 12-year old girls. Her 200 free, 1000 free, and 100 IM were all zone bests. Another Dynamo Ulett, Tristen Ulett, topped the 13-year old girls 500 free. Caamano’s teammate Nicole Gomez chipped in two new bests in the 200 and 1650 free, while another Sarasota Sharks swimmer, Emma Weyant, also contributed a new zone best for the age group.

Jessica Nava of Pine Crest Swimming (200 fly) and Caitlin Reynera (100 breast) swam the only new top times for the 15-year old girls. Haley Yelis‘s 1:47.44 200 free was the only new standard set by any 16-year old girl as well. Alina Kendzior cruised to three new top times for the 17-year old girls with her 100 back, 200 back, and 200 IM. Amy Miller (100 free) and Alexandra Buscher (200 fly) added their names atop the list as well.

Mallory Comerford blazed four new top times for the 18-year old girls in the 100 fly as well as the 100, 200, and 500 free. Sydney Pickrem topped both IMs, while Maddie Hess now holds the top spot in the 50 free and 200 back. Hannah Burns (1650 free) and Elise Haan (400 free) also notched top times.

Boys: Josh Zuchowski led the 11-year old boys with four new top times in the 50, 100, and 200 back as well as the 100 IM. Colton Frantz of the Sarasota YMCA Sharks notched top times in the 100 breast and 200 IM. His teammate Cole Firlie  added a top time in the 1000 free.

Nathan Jin of Dynamo (50 breast) and Kevin Banjul of the Blue Marlins of Hialeah Marlins (200 fly) swam zone bests for the 12-year old boys. In the next age group, Luke Ottley of Trinity Prep Aquatics topped the 100 and 200 free. Wahoo’s of Wellington’s Joshua Balbi (100 fly) and Swim Fort Lauderdale’s Kevin Degryse (200 breast) also posted zone-topping times.

Jin’s teammate Ian Grum gutted out a zone-topping 16:01.58 in the 14-year old boys’ 1650 free. Pine Crest Swimming’s Elvis Kotikovski (200 back) and North Florida Swimming Inc.’s Tyler Watson (200 fly) also contributed top times to the age group.

Will Chan clocked three new zone bests for the 15-year old boys in the 100 breast and both IMs. Jason Park‘s 21.43 50 free also grabbed the top spot in the age group. Amongst the 16-year old boys, Jack LeVant (50 free), Robert Finke of the Saint Petersburg Aquatics (1000 free and 400 IM), and Austin Katz of the Sarasota YMCA Sharks (200 back) all swam top times.

Mikel Schleudert grabbed two top times in the 17-year old boys’ 100 and 200 free. Jose Martinez led the charge for the 18-year old boys with two new top times in the 200 and 400 IM. Dean Farris of Metro Atlanta Aquatic Club zoomed to a 48.10 zone-leading 100 back. Steffen Mount (100 free), Noah Caims (1650 free), Gus Whiteman (200 back), Alaric Levreault-Lopez (200 fly) and Azura Florida Aquatic’s Marco Guarente (200 breast) all posted top times.

USA Swimming Western Zone

Girls: There were a number of changes amongst the 11 and 12-year old girls in the Western Zone. Mia Tandingan led the way for the 11-year olds with five new top times in the 100 free, 200 free, 50 breast, 100 breast, and 200 IM. Claire Tuggle (500 and 1000 free) and Isabella Abrajan (200 back) also etched their names atop the age group rankings.

Swim Neptune’s Asia Minnes also led the way for the 12-year old girls with five new top times in the 100 free, 50 back, 100 breast, 50 fly, and 200 IM. Amy Tang of the Pacific Dragons Swim Team clocked three zone bests in the 100 back, 100 fly, and 100 IM. Allison Bernier of Charger Aquatics (200 free), Ellie Shorten of Royal Swim Team (1650 free), Jessica Davis (200 back), and Ana Jih-Schiff (50 breast) also had zone-best swims.

Natalie Jones of Charger Aquatics was the only other age grouper with a zone best time, topping the 14-year old girls’ 50 free with her 23.60.

Ella Eastin cranked out five new zone bests in the 200 free, 100 back, 200 fly, and both IMs for the 18-year old girls. Jordan Anderson topped the 500 free with a 4:48.40, while Sandra Soe (1650 free), Ugne Mazutaityte (200 back), and Emma Schanz (200 breast) also swam top times.

Boys: Jack Springer of King Aquatic Club swam the lone new top time for the 11-year old boys with his 4:51.90 400 IM. Kai Crews of Truckee-Tahoe Swim Team nailed two top times for the 12-year old boys in the 100 back and 200 back. Springer’s teammate Tyler Lu topped the 400 IM for the age group.

Lleyton Plattel of the Pleasanton Seahawks gutted out the top time in the 13-year old boys’ 500 free with his 4:49.13. Max Hawton of Charger Aquatics garnered two new top times in the 50 free and 100 back for the 14-year old boys. La Mirada Armada’s Kevin Vargas  notched a top time in the 200 breast.

Seaside Aquatics Club swimmer Henry Blaul led the 15-year old boys with two new top times in the 100 breast and 200 IM. Mission Viejo’s Daniel Kim clocked a top time in the 100 fly.

In the 18-year old boys age group, Matt Anderson posted top times in the 100 and 200 breast. Daniil Antipov dropped two new zone bests in the 100 and 200 fly. Mark Nikolaev joined in for two top times in the 100 free and 100 back. Cole Cogswell (50 free), Grant Shoults of Mission Viejo (500 free), Thomas Smith (200 back), and Daniel McArthur (200 IM) also hit new zone bests.

In the Western Zone for 18 Year old males, that would be Daniel Antipov, not Antipodes with bests in the 100 and 200 Fly. He and. Mark Nikolaev are freshmen at Grand Canyon University.

Where are the lists for 15 year old male in the Eastern zone? It goes from 14 right to 16.
