NEW COMMIT: Texas A&M University has gained a new in-state verbal commitment for the fall of 2020 from Friendswood, Texas native and rising senior Olivia Theall.

Theall, who owns a pair of Summer Juniors standards, does her club swimming with Aquastar and most recently recorded four best times at the Texas Senior Circuit. She placed 21st in the 100 fly at Juniors West in December and raced both fly events at Junior Nationals last summer.

Also competing for Friendswood High School, Theall is a four-time Texas UIL 5A State Championship finalist. The NISCA All-American was the 100 fly runner-up and took fifth in the 50 free as a junior after placing fourth in the 100 fly and 11th in the 200 IM during her sophomore season.

She told Swimming World:

“howdy and gig’em! I’m so excited and proud to announce my verbal commitment to continue my education and swimming career at Texas A&M University! Special thanks to my family, friends, and my coaches for supporting me throughout my swimming career! I can’t wait to be apart of a team with such a rich history!”

Her best times include:

  • 50 fly – 25.24
  • 100 fly – 53.94
  • 200 fly – 2:00.34
  • 200 IM – 2:05.26

When she suits up for the Aggies as a member of the class of 2024, Theall will join a young but talented fly group that’ll include Jing Wen QuahTaylor Pike and Emma Carlton. Although she’s only a few tenths off of scoring range at the SEC Championships in the 100 fly, Theall has dropped over five seconds in the event over the past two seasons with a year to go before arriving in College Station.
