Andrew Gemmell, Swimming World’s Open Water Swimmer of the Year (Morning Swim Show)
PHOENIX – Swimming World Magazine’s Open Water Swimmer of the Year Andrew Gemmell joins today’s edition of The Morning Swim Show to discuss his career in open water swimming, preparing for National Championships, World Championships and the Olympics and why he loves open water swimming.

Gemmell also talks with Jeff Commings about what a tight-knit community open water swimming is, and the process for qualifying for the Oylmpics.
Andrew was a member of the 2012 United States Olympic Team, where he competed in the 1,500-meter freestyle. At the 2009 World Championships, Gemmell won silver in the men’s 10-kilometer open water race. In the 5-kilometer race, Gemmell finished fifth. Gemmell is a recipient of the United States 2009 male open-water swimmer of the year award,and was nominated for the 2009 Golden Goggle Awards as breakout swimmer of the year.
