During the first weekend of March, the University of Texas typically hosts the American Short Course Championships, a short course yards prelims/finals meet that doubles as a last chance meet for the men’s NCAA championships.

But due to what Texas is calling a “plumbing leak,” that meet, which began earlier this morning, has been relocated from Austin to San Antonio’s Northside ISD Natatorium.

In a press release from Texas, facility director Charles Logan explained, “The Texas Swimming Center has experienced a plumbing leak, and as a result, we’ve elected to relocate the American Short Course Championship.”

Swimming World has contacted numerous sources in Austin, but none have been able to provide any additional information. The two facilities are less than 90 miles apart, so even though the last-minute change provided a difficult logistical situation for coaches and swimmers, the proximity allowed the meet to start on time.
