Alvin Jiang Gives Verbal Commitment to UNC Tarheels

Alvin Jiang has verbally committed the the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is from Colleyville, Texas and swims for Lakeside Aquatics.
His best times are:
- 50 Back 24.20
- 100 Back 49.60
- 200 Back 1:54.37
- 100 Fly 48.76
This summer Jiang was the USA Swimming Austin Futures Champion in the 100 fly (55.41). He was also a 50 free (23.69) and 100 back (58.83) finalist. Jiang is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a senior at Cistercian Preparatory School. Swimming for his school at the 2016 Texas Southwest Preparatory Conference Championships he won both the 100 fly (49.17) and 200 IM (1:53.34).
Sam Lewis led the Tarheel’s butterfly group last year. While he has graduated, Patrick Cusick (48.40) will be Chapel Hill’s fastest swimmer still around in the 2017-2018 season. On the backstroke front, Nicolas Graseer and Lewis led the charge at ACCs last year. Rob Whitacre (47.78) will be a senior when Jiang gets to North Carolina.
