Alabama Lands 2021 Verbal Commitment from Juniors 200 Fly Finalist Anna Ogren
NEW COMMIT: The University of Alabama has picked up a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2021 from talented butterflyer and IMer Anna Ogren of Rochester, Minn. She’ll join Greta Gidley in Tuscaloosa.
Ogren, who owns three Junior National standards, swims year-round with Rochester Swim Club and most recently placed eighth in the 200 fly at Juniors West. This past summer summer, she raced three events at Junior Nationals after earning silver in the 200m IM at Minnesota LCM Seniors. The two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American earned three best times at Juniors West in 2018 before going on to score two silvers and a bronze at Rochester Sectionals in March.
Her best times include:
- 50 fly – 25.29
- 100 fly – 54.77
- 200 fly – 1:59.11
- 200 IM – 2:03.64
- 400 IM – 4:22.43
- 200 free – 1:50.52
- 500 free – 4:55.67
Ogren will add valuable fly and IM depth to Bama’s roster when she arrives in Tuscaloosa as a member of the class of 2025. She’s just on the outskirts of scoring range at the SEC Championships, but has consistently made improvements each season with 1.5 years of club swimming still to go. Since the 2017-18 season, Ogren has dropped over two seconds in the 100 fly/200 IM, five in the 200 fly, and six in the 400 IM.
