Alabama Hires Michael White as Assistant Coach to Round Out Staff
Alabama has hired Michael White as an assistant coach to round out the staff of coach Margo Geer.
White served as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin and an assistant senior coach for Madison Aquatics Club for the 2022-23 season.
“We are excited to welcome Michael to our coaching staff,” Geer said in a university statement. “He has a dynamic and energetic personality that will not only fit in with our staff, but will help make our program better. He brings great energy and is both driven and determined in everything he does. He will serve as a great mentor for our student-athletes.”
While with the Badgers, White helped Wisconsin’s women’s team to its best NCAA finish since 2017. The men’s team recorded a program-best point total at the Big Ten Championships. White primarily focused on the sprint, distance and breaststroke groups.
Before finding his way to Madison, he spent two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Juniata College in Pennsylvania.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Alabama swimming and diving staff,” White said. “I can’t thank Coach Margo enough for giving me this opportunity. This University is special in that excellence is not only the goal, but the expectation. So for me, getting the chance to have an impact on these student-athletes is a real honor. I can’t wait to get to Tuscaloosa and get to work. Roll Tide!”
White swam at St. Bonaventure, where he won seven individual Atlantic 10 titles. A two-time team captain, he helped the Bonnies win the 2014 Atlantic 10 championship. He left Olean with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a master’s degree in business administration.
2012 Arizona HS State Champion for Dobson HS in 200 IM (1:51.94) and 100 Breast (:57.61).
Go Mikey!
