Alabama Gains Verbal From Magnolia Breaststroker Caitlin Reynera

NEW COMMIT: The University of Alabama has earned a new verbal commitment from Spring, Texas breaststroker Caitlin Reynera who will arrive in Tuscaloosa next fall.
Rynera swims year-round with Magnolia Aquatic Club and owns the Junior National standards in both breaststroke events. She earned the 100m breast silver at Gulf Senior Champs this summer before racing a trio of events at Rochester Futures. She competed in both breaststroke distances at Juniors West last winter and took 8th and 15th, respectively, in the 100 breast and 200 breast at College Station Sectionals in March.
Also representing The Woodlands High School, Reynera is a three-time Texas 6A State Championship finalist. She finished sixth in the 100 breast as a junior after placing second in that event at the Region 4 meet a week prior. The NISCA All-American was the State runner-up in her signature event during her freshman season.
She told Swimming World:
“I look forward to furthering my academic and athletic goals at the University of Alabama. I want to thank my friends, family and coaches for helping me over the years. I’m excited to be a part of the Bama family these next 4 years. Roll Tide.”
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:02.89
- 200 breast – 2:18.24
- 200 IM – 2:05.59
Reynera will make an immediate impact when she suits up for the Crimson Tide as a member of the class of 2023 following the graduation of top returning breaststroker Justine Macfarlane. Although she currently sits just outside scoring range at the SEC Championships, she has continuously made improvements each season with just under a year of club swimming still to go.
