Aggies Keep Olympic Trials Qualifier Bucky Gettys In State For 2025
NEW COMMIT: Texas A&M University has kickstarted its Class of 2025 recruiting by receiving an in-state verbal commitment from Olympic Trials qualifier Bucky Gettys of Round Rock, Texas.
A talented distance freestyler, Gettys does his club swimming with Texas Gold and earned four best times at Junior Nationals this past summer, placing as high as ninth in the 800m free and 10th in the 1500m free.
His best times include:
- 500 free – 4:24.75
- 1000 free – 9:14.89
- 1650 free – 15:28.66
- 400m free – 3:57.11
- 800m free – 8:09.33
- 1500m free – 15:37.44
Back in March, he finished fourth in the 1000, fifth in the 500 free and sixth in the mile at College Station Sectionals.
Currently a junior at Round Rock High School, Gettys took eighth in the 500 free at the 2022 UIL 6A State Championships during his freshman season.
