Adam Szmidt Passes Away
November 29. THIS morning, long-time Pacific Association official and volunteer, Adam Szmidt, passed away.
Szmidt, who had been fighting cancer for a number of months, recently suffered a stroke. On November 21, he returned home under the care of Kaiser's Hospice program. After a little more than one week at home and two weeks after the stroke, he passed in his sleep early Wednesday morning.
According to his son, Andrew, a memorial service will most likely be held on Saturday, December 2. We will post the details.
Andrew Szmidt asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Kaiser Hospice program. "Without them we could have never brought our father home." The family plans on creating a scholarship fund in Adam Szmidt's name soon. Donations for that cause
would also be greatly appreciated.
