Adam Peaty Impressive in Debut Dance on Strictly Come Dancing
We all know about the talent that Adam Peaty brings to the pool. Apparently, he can move on the dance floor, too.
Peaty, the two-time Olympic champion in the 100-meter breaststroke, made his debut on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night, and the British star acquitted himself quite well with partner Katya Jones. Performing the Cha-Cha to the song, “Beggin,” Peaty and Jones recorded the second-highest score of the evening. The judges lauded Peaty for his efforts, and his dance can be seen below in a post from the show’s Twitter feed.
Peaty was announced as a contestant on the popular reality show, which is aired on the BBC, following the Olympic Games in Tokyo. At the Olympics, Peaty once again dominated the 100 breaststroke, the event he has owned since emerging as a world champion in 2015. He also helped Great Britain capture gold in the mixed medley relay and silver in the 400 medley relay. After the Games, Peaty spoke about his eagerness to take on a new challenge.
“I’m really looking forward to doing something totally different and challenging myself away from the pool,” Peaty said. ““I’m hoping my competitive nature is going to compensate for my dancing abilities!”
Due to his obligations to practicing and appearing on “Strictly,” Peaty is not competing for the London Roar in the third season of the International Swimming League. The break is well-deserved for the Brit, who is allowing his personality to shine through in another realm. Peaty and Jones will return to the dance floor next week.
