Abram Mueller, Wisconsin State Record Holder, Pledges Verbal to Stanford

NEW COMMIT: Stanford University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Abram Mueller of Madison, Wisconsin.

He will join Daniel Li as a member of the Cardinal’s Class of 2028. Mueller and Li are the only two boys in their class who have broken the 53-second barrier in the 100 breast.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am super excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Stanford University!!! Thanks to my family, friends, coaches, teammates and teachers that have helped make this dream come true! Fear the TREE!!!”

Mueller does his club swimming with Badger Aquatics Club and last competed at Des Moines Sectionals where he earned seven best times, placing as high as fifth in the 100m breast. He earned silver in the 100 breast at NCSA Championships back in March, also taking fourth in the 50 breast and fifth in the 200 breast.

His best times include:

  • 100 breast – 52.98
  • 200 breast – 1:57.27
  • 200 IM – 1:50.40
  • 200 free – 1:38.64

Currently a senior at Madison West High School, Mueller broke the state record in the 100 breast with a time of 53.20 en route to earning gold at the Wisconsin DI State Championship in 2023. He was the runner-up in both the 100 breast and 200 IM as a sophomore, also taking second in the 100 fly as a junior.

Mueller’s best times in both the 100 and 200 breast would’ve scored in the B-final at the 2023 Pac-12 Championships.
