Today, Swimming World continues to offer past workouts that have appeared in the magazine to its readership. This time, we share several past workouts designed by legendary University of Texas coach Eddie Reese and shared with Michael J. Stott. This group of workouts is identified by the point in the Texas season in which they were conducted.

Real Early Workouts (Before Sept. 15)
400 Free on 5:00
300 Free/100 Kick on 5:20
200 Free/200 Kick on 5:40
100 Free/300 Kick on 6:00
12 x 100 Free (breathe every 5) on 1:20
or
10 x 100 (75 free/25 stroke) on 1:25 (during the rest period do 8 sec. vertical kick)
1000 stroke work – mostly 25s (takes about 30 minutes)
Goals for Early Aerobic Training
1 x 20-30 min. swim per week 4th week of training
1 x 20-30 min. kick per week
1 x 30-40 min. swim 5th & 6th week of training
1 x 20-30 min. kick
1 x 40-50 min swim 7th & 8th week of training
1 x 30 min. kick
Once every two weeks the long swim will be timed
Examples of non-free or stroke straight swim

continued for a distance (up to 3 or 4 of everything or timed)
