From UT – DALLAS, Texas – The No. 3 University of Texas men’s swimming and diving team recorded five top-three finishes in the final nine events en route to winning the 1998 Dallas Morning News Swimming & Diving Classic at the Perkins Natatorium on the campus of Southern Methodist University. Texas rolled to 315 points in the two-day event, outdistancing seventh-ranked Michigan (304 points) to win the crown. Host institution SMU finished third with 301 points, followed by Tennessee (294), Auburn (257) and Miami (206). The Longhorns, who finished fourth at last year’s Classic, never trailed in this year’s event after winning the 400yd medley relay to open Friday’s action.
