David Plummer officially punched his ticket to Rio after finishing second in the men’s 100 backstroke. His final time of 52.28 was just .02 behind winner Ryan Murphy.
During semifinals, Plummer unleashed a world-leading 52.12. This is Plummer’s first Olympic Games after finishing third in the 100 back in 2012 and sixth in 2008.
Plummer, who trains with the New York Athletic Club, talked to the media about how he knew it would be a tight race and how he feels he has more in the tank.
