2022 TYR Pro Swim Series Mission Viejo: Sandpipers, Leon Marchand, Ryan Held, USC Studs Lead Field (Psych Sheets)
The 2022 TYR Pro Swim Series continues with a stop in Mission Viejo, California, from June 1-4.
The meet is not quite as loaded as some of the Pro Swim Series stops, which makes sense with the 2022 World Championships coming up. But there will still be several elite swimmers slated to participate in the meet.
University of Texas distance specialist, Erica Sullivan, a Tokyo Olympian, is on the psych sheet and is entered in the 1500 free.
She and her Sandpipers club teammates will load up in the 400 free with Sullivan, Bella Sims, Katie Grimes and Claire Weinstein taking the top four seeds in the event. Weinstein is the top seed in the 200 free. Grimes is the top seed in the 400 IM and 800 free as the team will load up the TYR Pro Swim Series stop.
NCAA champion Leon Marchand leads the Pro Swim Series field in the 400 IM and 200 butterfly.
On the men’s side, Olympian Ryan Held leads the sprinters in the meet and will be joined by Justin Ress, Grant House and David Curtiss in the 100 free, among others. Ress is the top seed in the 100 backstroke.
Team USA member Will Licon leads the men’s breaststroke field as the top seed in both events at the TYR Pro Swim Series stop.
Cal NCAA champion Trenton Julian leads the men’s 100 butterfly and 200 free.
The women’s 100 free will be led by Anika Apolstalon, Anicka Delgado and Bella Sims, the latter two being 2020 Olympians. Delgado also is the top seed in the 100 butterfly and 50 free.
NCAA champion Kaitlyn Dobler leads the field in the 100 breaststroke, along with USC teammate Isabelle Odgers, who also is the top seed in the 200 breaststroke. The backstroke events are both led by Cal’s Isabelle Stadden.
Other notables participating in the 2022 TYR Pro Swim Series Mission Viejo stop include Lindsay Looney, Justina Kozan, Marwan Aly El Kamash, David Heron, Ayla Spitz, Teagan O’Dell, Jack Dolan, Michael Brinegar and Gabriel Jett.
