2022 Featured Swim Camp: Navy Swimming Camps and Clinics

Swim Camp 22 Navy

Now going into their twenty-fourth season, expect direct results by being part of the 2022 Navy Swimming Camp this summer!  Navy’s principal goal is to provide campers with the very best in individual instruction, evaluation, camper experience, and safety/supervision.

Campers will learn, train and reside in an amazing and unique environment on the grounds of the United States Naval Academy. Additionally, teamwork and leadership are important points of emphasis for every camper.  The Navy camp is led by an experienced camp staff while providing the very best in 24-hour supervision.

The purpose of their camp is to offer campers a unique environment to learn and develop their competitive strokes including all related starts, turns, and finishes. Navy Swimming Camp is a stroke-intensive camp. Swimming campers will receive individual attention.  Additional training sessions are offered to all needing to maintain conditioning while at camp.

Video analysis, dryland activities designed to improve individual fitness levels, performance, training, goal-setting, leadership presentations and the Severn River boat cruise are all part of the schedule for 2022. Bill Roberts has directed or co-directed the Navy Swimming Camp since its inception in 1998. Beginning with less than 20 campers, the camp has grown into an annual sold-out event each June. Roberts’ vision for the camp is based on overall athletic improvement. In the water, “nearly everything we do is centered on technical or biomechanical improvement.” Roberts, with a formal background in education, is an associate professor in Physical Education at the Naval Academy. With a career dedicated to physical education and coaching, “we look forward to sharing with you information and experience that will make a difference in your athletic development.”

Bill Roberts entered his 20th season as the head coach of the Navy men’s swimming team and his 22nd year as part of the program’s coaching staff in the fall of 2022.

Roberts has led the Mids to the Patriot League title in each of his 17 seasons on The Yard in which the meet was contested.  Navy has tallied 202 swimming event crowns at the meet over this time, with the remainder of the league winning a combined 103 event titles.  He has been tabbed as the league’s coach of the year 10 times.

In addition to the team’s success at the Patriot League Championship, Navy also has won 11 ECAC Championship crowns in the last 12 seasons.  Roberts has been named as the ECAC Coach of the Year following 10 of those team titles.
