The entry lists are out for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and some of the biggest stars of swimming are slated to compete in multiple events.

Canadian upstart Summer McIntosh will be one of the swimmers to watch at the meet after her breakout performance at the 2022 World Championships. McIntosh is entered in the 400 freestyle, 200 butterfly and 400 individual medley. McIntosh opted to bypass the 200 freestyle, as was the case at the World Champs, but she again will have the chance to lead off for Canada in the 800 freestyle relay.

Several other Canadian stars are slated for several events for the Commonwealth Games.

Maggie Mac Neil is entered in the 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and the 100 butterfly while Joshua Liendo is entered in the 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 50 butterfly. Kylie Masse is entered in the 100 backstroke and the 200 backstroke, and Mary-Sophie Harvey will compete in the 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke and the 200 IM.

For Australia, Olympic champion Emma McKeon will compete in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly and relays.

More meet coverage

Ariarne Titmus will compete in the 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle for Australia in the Commonwealth Games, with Kaylee McKeown entered in five events: 50 backstroke, 100 backstroke, 400 IM, 200 IM and 200 backstroke. Kyle Chalmers will compete in the 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly, and 100 butterfly.

Titmus could see her biggest challenge of the meet come from McIntosh in the 400 freestyle. Titmus broke Katie Ledecky’s world record in the event earlier this year and McIntosh was the silver medalist behind Ledecky at the World Championships.

Other Australian stars on the list include Zac Stubblety-Cook, Shayna Jack, Minna Atherton, Mollie O’Callaghan, Mack Horton, Madison Wilson, Elijah Winnington, Kiah Melverton, Lani Pallister, Bronte Campbell and Mitch Larkin.

For England, Adam Peaty leads the way in the breaststroke events and Freya Anderson will swim the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle. Tom Dean (England) and Duncan Scott (Scotland) will renew their rivalry in the 200 freestyle, the event in which they won gold and silver at last summer’s Olympic Games.

South Africa will be led by Matthew Sates, who is entered in the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle, and will also see action in the medley events. Countryman Chad le Clos is entered in the 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly. Reigning 200 breaststroke Olympic champion Tatjana Schoenmaker will make her summer debut in the breaststroke events after skipping the World Championships.
