2021 Big 12 Swimming & Diving Championships: Carson Foster Hits 1:41 200 IM; Longhorn Men Lead Nation in Medley Relay
The 2021 Big 12 swimming and diving championships continued Thursday from Austin, Texas as the Longhorns continued their winning ways in their home pool. With three weeks until women’s NCAAs and four weeks until the men’s meet, the Texas team is using this as a tune-up meet before the national championships.
Freshmen Carson Foster and Coby Carrozza took wins in the 200 IM and 500 respectively as this Texas team doesn’t seem to have a weakness.
Carrozza ran down junior Drew Kibler in the 500 with a 24.30 on his last 50 to catch him at 4:14.98 to Kibler’s 4:15.00. Kibler was a 4:08 already this season and will have a chance to race the SEC duo of Kieran Smith and Jake Magahey at NCAAs in four weeks from today in Greensboro. John Thomas Larson also factored into the finish with a 4:15.04 for third place.
Kibler went out well but was reeled in by the other two on the final 100 as that shows Kibler is not all the way polished with his swim
