Miles Williams has swum some great prelims this week for Duke, and he’s the top seed tonight in 42.53. It may well take faster to win tonight, with Louisville’s Andrej Barna in second, Peter Varjasi of Florida State third, UVA’s Ryan Baker fourth and Nyls Korstanje lurking in an outside lane.

200 breaststroke

The big shock of the morning was Caio Pumputis failing to make the A final, the Georgia Tech junior going 1:56.05 to finish 10th, missing the A final by .09 seconds. Ananais Pouch of Virginia Tech dropped more than three seconds to grab the top seed. But the favorite to win his fifth breaststroke title in three years is Evgenii Somov of Louisville, who won the 100 breast. He’s the second seed in 1:54.36. Keefer Barnum of Virginia is third, .01 back.

It’s Nick Albiero’s race to lose. The Louisville junior is out front by 1.5 seconds in prelims, but the guy chasing him is not short on confidence, IM double-winner Ted Schubert of Virginia (1:42.09). Zach Brown of NC State is third.
