Coleman Stewart put on a show. The NC State senior blasted a 1:37.71 to win the final by nearly two seconds. It’s an ACC Men’s Swimming record, for both the meet (Gregory Tarasevich, 1:39.05 in 2017) and the conference (Hennesey Stuart, 1:38.56). It also downs his Greensboro Aquatic Center record from last year. Second was Mitchell Whyte, the top seed from prelims, breaking 1:40 in 1:39.46. Sam Tornqvist was third in 1:40.10. Dant, who’d battled into the A final in sixth this morning, finished eighth, burnt out by his double to finish six seconds back.

Nicolas Albiero made it three straight titles in his trademark event, and in record fashion. His time of 1:38.65 bested his ACC Men’s Swimming Championships record from last year, but the fact that he did it by nearly two seconds (1:40.51) was even more impressive. Second was Virginia Tech’s Philip Manoff in 1:40.48, also quicker than Albiero last year, while fellow Hokie Antani Ivanov was third in 1:41.01. Double IM champ Ted Schubert of Virginia took fourth in 1:41.34.
