2019 World University Games Day 7 Prelims: Kaersten Meitz, Sean Grieshop Earn Top Seeds
Day seven of the 2019 World University Games kicks off with the women’s 400m free, followed by the men’s 400m IM, women’s 4x100m medley, and the men’s 4x100m medley.
Women’s 400m Freestyle – Preliminary
Taking the top seed going into semi-finals is the United State’s Kaersten Meitz with a time of 4:13.08.
In second was Great Britain’s Abbie L Wood with a time of 4:14.15, followed in third by Australia’s Mikayla Messer with a time of 4:14.63.
In fourth was the United State’s Sierra Schmidt (4:15.36), in fifth was Italy’s Linda Caponi (4:15.74), in sixth was Spain’s Catalina Corro Lorente (4:15.88), in seventh was Great Britain’s Kathryn Sian Greenslade (4:16.00), and in eighth was Canada’s Kennedy Goss (4:16.25).
Men’s 400m Individual Medley – Preliminary
Taking first in preliminary’s was the United State’s Sean Thomas Grieshop with a time of 4:15.40.
In second was Japan’s Yuki Ikari with a time of 4:17.35, followed closely by Russia’s Maxim Stupin with a time of 4:17.43.
In fourth was Italy’s Pier Andrea Matteazzi (4:18.18), in fifth was Sweden’s Adam Paulsson (4:18.52), in sixth was the United State’s Samuel Stewart (4:18.81), in seventh was Australia’s Brendon Smith (4:19.50), and in eighth was Great Britain’s Mark Szaranek (4:19.79).
Women’s 4 x 100 m Medley – Preliminary
In first place was the United State’s with swimmers Elise Haan, Emily Escobedo, Veronica Burchill, and Catherine De Loof with a time of 4:00.12.
In second was Australia with swimmers Calypso Mcdonnell, Chelsea Hodges, Alice Stuart, and Julia Hawkins with a time of 4:05.48.
In third was Canada with swimmers Ingrid Wilm, Sophie Angus, Sarah Watson, and Ainsley Mcmurray with a time of 4:05.53.
