2019 Speedo Sectionals Indianapolis Day 2 Recap: Carmel In Front

After Day 2 of Speedo Sectionals in Indianapolis, Carmel Swim Club still leads for overall team scores. Day 2 events included: women’s and men’s 200 free, 100 fly, 400 I.M. and timed finals for the women’s and men’s 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.

Women’s 200 Medley Relay
Carmel Swim Club’s Madelyn Christman, Devon Kitchel, Kelly Pash, and Meghan Christman touch first in a time of 1:56.38. Ohio State Swim Club was closely behind touching second (1:57.10) and Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics touching third (1:58.19).
Men’s 200 Medley Relay
Carmel Swim Club’s Wyatt Davis, Andrew Rafalko, Griffin Hadley, and Alec Delong touch first in a time of 1:44.90. Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics touches second (1:45.51) and West Ottawa Swim Club touches third (1:47.20).
Women’s 200 Free
Carmel Swim Club’s Kelly Pash touches first in a time of 2:00.17. NASA’s Elsa Fretz comes in second (2:01.75) just ahead of Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics’ Kathryn Ackerman who touched third (2:02.34). SwimMAC teammates Faith Hefner (2:03.71) and Morgan Razewski (2:04.11) touch fourth and fifth place. Rounding out the heat was Bluefish Swim Club’s Brynn Wright who touched sixth (2:04.67) and Carmel Swim Club teammates Ashlyn Underhill (2:05.60) and Kendra Bowen (2:05.78) touched seventh and eighth.
Men’s 200 Free
Carmel Swim Club’s Wyatt Davis touches first in a time of 1:49.48, taking nearly three and a half seconds off his seed time. Closely behind was SwimMAC’s John Walker who touched second (1:49.90) and South Carolina’s Oludare Rose touching third (1:50.62). In a close finish for fourth place was SwimMAC’s Hugh Svendsen (1:53.91) who out touched Carmel’s Augustus Rothrock (1:53.97) and Oly Swimming’s Konstantinos Siokos (1:54.05). Southwest Y Michigan Swimming’s Kyriakos Peristeridis (1:55.18) and Fishers Area Swimming Tigers’ Jackson Carlile (1:57.32) touch seventh and eighth.
Women’s 100 Fly
Northern KY Clippers Swimming teammates Kenady Beil (1:00.43) and Allison Piccirillo (1:00.93) touch first and second place. The rest of the A-final all finished in the 1:01 range making this a very close race. North Baltimore Aquatic Club’s Margaret Belbot finsihed third (1:01.16) ahead of Waves Bloomington/Normal Y’s Julia Heimstead (1:01.22). Fifth and sixth place finishers were SwimMAC’s Elizabeth Vannote (1:01.30) and NASA’s Elsa Fretz (1:01.35). Drop Aquatics’ Ashley Turak (1:01.74) and SwimMAC’s Madeline Menkhaus (1:01.98) finish seventh and eighth.
Men’s 100 Fly
Scarlet Aquatics’ Oludare Rose touches first in a time of 53.97. In a tie for second, Bluefish Swim Club’s River Wright and Scarlet Aquatics’ Jonathon Gomez touch in a time of 54.43. Fourth and fifth place go to Fort Wayne Swim Team’s Tristan Dewitt (54.61) and SwimMAC’s Boyd Poelke (54.83). West Ottawa Swim Club’s Derek Maas (55.06), Bluefish Swim Club’s Harrison Homans (55.18) and Berkeley Aquatic Club’s Brennan Hammond (55.74) finish sixth through eighth.
Women’s 400 IM
Northern KY Clippers Swimming Mariah Denigan wins first-place in a time of 4:43.41. Following closely behind is Bluefish Swim Club’s Summer Smith who earns second in a time of 4:45.33. Carmel’s Kelly Pash, in her second individual event of the evening touches third (4:50.62). Ohio State Swim Club’s Martina Peroni touches fourth in a time of 4:53.11. In a close finish for fifth and sixth were Northern KY Clippers Swimming’s Allison Piccirillo (4:57.08) and Drop Aquatics’ Emma Inch (4:57.97). Bluefish Swim Club’s Aislin Farris (5:01.94) and SwimMAC’s Chloe Harris (5:02.80) touch seventh and eighth.
Men’s 400 IM
La Mirada Armada’s Kevin Vargas gets his hand to the wall first in a time of 4:21.49. Carmel’s Jacob Mitchell comes in second in a time of 4:24.03. Bluefish Swim Club’s Harrison Homans (4:28.03) and Oly Swimming’s Michael Cooper (4:29.02) touch third and fourth. Fifth place goes to SWAC’s Cameron Luarde (4:33.89) with Carmel’s Augustus Rothrock (4:34.10) and Scarlet Aquatics’ Justin Park (4:35.14) following closely behind.
Women’s 400 Free Relay
Carmel Swim Club’s Kelly Pash, Ashlyn Underhill, Gretchen Lueking, and Kendra Bowen touch first in a time of 3:50.97. In a close race for second Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics (3:53.48) out touches Ohio State Swim Club (3:53.71).
Men’s 400 Free Relay
Carmel Swim Club’s Wyatt Davis, Alec Delong, Griffin Hadley, and Jacob Mitchell touch first in a time of 3:24.90. Touching second was Michigan Lakeshore Aquatics (3:27.04) and third goes to Oly Swimming (3:31.69).
