The fifth and final session of the 2019 Phillips 66 US National Championships saw the return of 12-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte. Lochte’s backstroke split of 29.47 was instrumental in putting him in the lead and he never turned back, posting a 1:57.76 for the gold.
Madisyn Cox took home the National title in the women’s 200 IM, while both Bobby Finke (800 free) and Ally McHugh (1500 free) added to their gold medal hauls.
The final individual National titles of the night were the men’s and women’s 50 freestyles and were swept up by Ryan Held and Erika Brown.
Throughout the entirety of the session, Swimming World photographer Connor Trimble was on deck capturing the action and excitement, while Swimming World’s Dan D’Addona and Courtney Mykkanen reported on the action from Stanford, California.
