The shocking events continued with the day three finals at the 2019 FINA World Championships as Lithuania’s Danas Rapsys was disqualified after winning the men’s 200 free. It was announced that he moved on the start, which led to China’s Sun Yang being pronounced the winner.
Throughout the entirety of the finals session, Swimming World photographer Becca Wyant was on deck capturing the action and excitement, while Swimming World’s Craig Lord, John Lohn, Liz Byrnes and Andy Ross reported on the action from Gwangju, South Korea.
Lilly King successfully defended her 100 breast title against Russian rival Yulia Efimova, while to no one’s surprise Adam Peaty claimed the top seed in the men’s 50 breast semifinals.
China’s Xu Jiayu and Canada’s Kylie Masse retained both of their World titles in the men’s and women’s 100 back against stacked fields.
