Women’s 400 Free

Spectators will be in for another loaded heat in the women’s 400 free, as tonight’s championship will be up for grabs if this morning’s prelim was any indication. Ariane Titmus will be the favorite, as she crashed the pads with a time of 4:09.72, just under Kiah Melverton’s mark of 4:09.95. Madelein Gough will surely be in the pack, as he 4:10.34 earned her a spot in the top three just ahead of Leah Neale (4:10.93).

Carla Buchanan will enter as an under dog, as her time of 4:11.47 landed her at fifth seed. She hopes to fend off Lani Pallister (4:11.64) and Mikka Sheridan (4:11.73) to climb in the rankings, while Jenna Forrester (4:13.39) hopes to turn heads from the outside lane.

Men’s 400 Free

Jack McLoughlin will be the one to beat in tonight’s final, as his time of 3:48.09 bettered Mack Horton’s (3:50.50) second-place mark by over two seconds. Eli Winnington will be chasing McLoughlin in the adjacent lane with a seed time of 3:51.09, while Thomas Neill hopes to break his way into the top three after a 3:52.71 morning swim.

Joshua Parrish’s 3:53.28 was good enough for fifth seed, as he and Nick Sloman (3:53.86) aim to send shock waves throughout the natatorium with break-out swims tonight. Mitchell Tinsley (3:54.27) and Daniel Jacobson (3:54.96) hope to create some outside smoke from the far lanes, as the men reconvene this evening for the championship final.
