The George Washington Men and Duquesne Women hold their reign through Friday night at the Atlantic 10 Championships. Though the George Mason Men put up a good fight, they were unable to close the gap on the Colonials Friday night.
On the women’s side, Duquesne continues to hold off George Washington by 17 points, with strong individual swims across both teams.

Emma Brinton started the first individual victory of the night for the Duquesne Dukes. The sophomore standout popped a 4:13.68. Both Brinton and George Washington Junior Jackie Torrez achieved NCAA “B” cut times, with Torrez clocking a 4:16.57 for second place. Sophomore Sarah Helen Shepard of Davidson College was close behind in third place with a time of 4:17.47.

The first butterfly event of the night brought the win to the Colonial women, with Meghan Burton scorching the field with a time of 53.97. Tara Brunner followed in 2nd, another standout performer of the meet, popping a 54.11 for a close finish. UMass Senior Rachel Grant took 3rd by .05. Top 16 performers in the women’s butterfly event swam 56.23 or faster in the finals contention.

Women’s 400 Medley Relay
The Duke women proved they were not giving up their spot on top by finishing night 3 with an explosive 400 Medley Relay. The team of Emma Brinton, Abby Stauffer, Audrey Steen and Hanna Everhart blew the teams away with a time of 3:41.74. Richmond followed up in 2nd with a time of 3:42.76, and Fordham took 3rd with 3:43.73.
