2019 ACC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships: NC State, Virginia Set Meet Records in Greensboro
The first night of the 2019 ACC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships from Greensboro produced some great races in the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay. NC State got the night started with a new meet record in the 200 medley relay and Virginia did the same in the 800 free relay.
Florida State is on top of the team standings thanks to some valuable diving points. They are ahead of Virginia and Louisville. NC State is currently in seventh but should move up by the end of tomorrow. It should come down between NC State, Virginia and Louisville.

200 Medley Relay
NC State got the night started in a big way with a 1:34.52 on Wednesday night in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Wolfpack team of Elise Haan (24.02), Sophie Hansson (26.26), Sirena Rowe (23.22) and Ky-lee Perry (21.02) won the ACC title over Virginia (1:35.21) and Florida State (1:36.28).
The Wolfpack’s time would have been second at SECs last night.
The quickest splits in the relay outside of NC State came from North Carolina’s Grace Countie (23.68), Florida State’s Ida Hulkko (26.19), Duke’s Alyssa Marsh (22.37) and Virginia’s Kyla Valls (21.86).
Louisville (1:36.54), Duke (1:36.77), Notre Dame (1:36.78), North Carolina (1:37.03) and Virginia Tech (1:38.51) also placed in the top eight to start the meet.

Men’s 1m Diving
The men’s divers in the conference will be competing this week in Greensboro as they will get a heads start on the scoring for next week’s men’s meet. Miami’s Briadam Herrera won the 1m crown for the Hurricanes with a 433.20. Florida State’s Joshua Davidson placed second at 367.00 while Virginia Tech’s Benjamin Schiesl (357.40) placed third.

800 Free Relay
Virginia won the 800 free relay with a dominating swim of 6:55.22 as the Cavaliers finished ahead of Louisville (6:58.69) and Notre Dame (7:02.36). Morgan Hill (1:43.27), Paige Madden (1:42.87), Megan Moroney (1:43.76) and Eryn Eddy (1:45.32) won for Virginia as they took down the ACC meet record that Virginia set a year ago at 6:55.77.
Louisville finished in second as Mallory Comerford anchored with a 1:41.01. She has been as fast as a 1:39 in a relay so she could have more left in the tank come NCAAs in four weeks.
The fastest splits came from Louisville’s Comerford, NC State’s Kylee Alons (1:43.39), Notre Dame’s Abbie Dolan (1:43.63) and Louisville’s Alena Kraus (1:45.30).
NC State (7:02.50), Duke (7:05.52), North Carolina (7:08.99), Florida State (7:09.85) and Georgia Tech (7:11.99) also finished in the top eight.

Miami won the second diving event of the night with Alicia Blagg claiming the gold for the Hurricanes at 366.50. Virginia’s Sydney Dusel (335.90) finished in second. Florida State’s Molly Carlson (318.95) finished in third as the Seminoles had three in the top eight score valuable points.
