Queens junior Nick Arakelian repeated as 400 IM champion for the third year in the row. Arakelian was actually in dead last after the fly leg but worked his way into first with an amazing backstroke and breaststroke leg to take home the crown in 3:45.01, just over a second off of his NCAA record.
2nd place finisher Adrian VanderHelm was out hard at the 100, leading with a 50.26 after the fly leg but faded going into the breaststroke and had to fight back against 3rd place finisher Gabriel Hernandez on the freestyle leg.

Women’s 400 Medley Relay
Queens University of Charlotte pulled out a win in a tight battle against Drury in the 400 medley relay, out-touching the Panthers 3:38.25 to 3:38.95. The Queens team of Hannah Peiffer (54.03), Michelle Prayson (1:01.49), Georgia DaCruz (52.42), and Kyrie Dobson (50.41) held off the Drury team to grab first and further Queens lead in the team race to 22 points over Drury.
The two teams were dead even after backstroke, and while Drury’s Zuzanna Chwadeczko pulled away on the breast leg Queen’s Georgia DaCruz had a monster split of 52.42 to get them back in the race and have the teams even going into the freestyle leg. Wingate wasn’t too far back in 3rd with a 3:39.44, thanks in large part to Alexis Divelbiss who had a great anchor leg of 49.00, the fastest in the field.
