The NCAA has released the 2017 NCAA Division I Women’s NCAA Championships pre-selection psych sheets.

2017 NCAA Division I Women’s NCAA Championships Pre-Selection Psych Sheet

After much anticipation after Katie Ledecky’s 400 IM-200 Freestyle double this weekend, the Stanford freshman has entered the 200 freestyle for NCAAs. This means that the new American record-holder in the 400 IM will not compete in that event at NCAAs—but Stanford will still be in excellent shape in that event with top seed Ella Eastin and No. 4 seed Allie Szekely.

Simone Manuel (50, 100 and 200 free) and Ella Eastin (200 and 400 IM and 200 fly) each own three individual top seeds, while Ledecky (500 and 1650 free) and Lilly King (100 and 200 breast) have two each.

Stanford has the fastest entry in every individual event except for the breaststrokes, where Indiana’s King leads the way, and the 200 backstroke, where Cal’s Kathleen Baker has the fastest time. Stanford also has the number one time in all but the 200 freestyle relay, where Cal is .13 ahead.

The women’s championship will take place March 15-18 in Indianapolis.

The official, cut-down psych sheets should be posted Wednesday. Typically, between 38 and 40 women are selected per event. Check back over the next two weeks for a comprehensive preview of the meet.

Quick question for anyone who might know the answer: If an athlete has two ‘B’ cuts and ends up making the cut line in one event, but not the other, do they still get to swim the second event since they are already among the list of invited athletes? Trying to figure if a former swimmer will get to swim both her events. Thanks!!

If a swimmer is above the cut line and gets officially invited in one event, yes they can swim all their B cuts.
