The 2017 NCAA D1 Women’s Swim & Dive Championships continued with records continuing to tumble in day two prelims.
The Stanford Cardinal kicked off the session by downing the American, U.S. Open, NCAA, and meet records in the 200 free relay. Simone Manuel, Lia Neal, Janet Hu, and Ally Howe turned in a 1:26.15, downing a set of eight-year-old records posted in 2009 by Arizona.
Katie Ledecky, also of Stanford, set herself up for her first NCAA individual title with a smooth 500 free, while Ohio State’s Liz Li led a quad of swimmers beneath the pool record in the 50 free.
Swimming World’s chief photographer Peter Bick was on deck this morning to capture the action and excitement.
