The fourth and final day of swimming at the 2017 NCAA D1 Women’s Swim & Dive Championships have elapsed and with that session a new team was crowned champion: the Stanford Cardinal. Lucky for us, Swimming World’s chief photographer Peter H. Bick was on deck to capture all of the action and excitement as the swimming community celebrated the new champions.
Head coach Greg Meehan and the Stanford Cardinal arrived ready to race from day one, immediately jumping ahead in the team scores before finishing the meet with a total of 526.5 points, well ahead of Cal’s 366.
Stanford standouts included Katie Ledecky, Simone Manuel, Ella Eastin, and more!
While Stanford won the championship title and Meehan took home CSCAA’s swimming Coach of the Year award, it was Cal’s Kathleen Baker who took home the CSCAA’s Swimmer of the Year after taking home three individual wins.
