2017 Men’s Pac-12 Championships: Stanford Maintains Lead, Cal Surges to Second
Stanford continued their charge towards the 2017 Pac-12 title during day three of the 2017 Pac-12 Swimming & Diving Championships.
Cal bypassed USC to move into the second place position with 523 points, while USC settles into third with 494.
ASU sits in fourth with 373, just ahead of Arizona (246) and Utah (167).

400 IM
Cal’s Andrew Seliskar topped the competition in the men’s 400 IM with a final time of 3:39.53. The sophomore scratched 6.81 seconds off his prelims time of 3:46.34 for his victory.
Stanford’s Abrahm DeVine posted a second place finish of 3:41.76, while Arizona’s Nick Thorne finished third with a 3:44.42.
Max Williamson of Stanford took fourth overall with a time of 3:44.61, followed by uSC’s Patrick Mulcare’s 3:45.17.
Cal’s Ken Takahashi was sixth with a time of 3:47.38, just ahead of the Stanford duo of Justin Buck (3:47.73) and Curtis Ogren (3:48.54).

100 Fly
Cal delivered a 1-2 punch in finals of the men’s 100 fly. Matthew Josa led the charge with a 45.41, finishing just ahead of teammate Justin Lynch and his time of 45.47.
Andrew Liang of Stanford secured third with a time of 45.52, while ASU’s Tadas Duskinas picked up fourth with a 45.71.
Fellow Sun Devil Andrew Porter was fifth overall with a 45.75, followed by Arizona’s Chatham Dobbs’ 45.94.
USC’s Santo Condorelli and Alex Valente finished seventh and eighth with times of 46.09 and 46.61 respectively.

Cameron Craig of ASU picked up the win in the 200 free with a time of 1:31.71, shaving 1.63 seconds off his prelims time of 1:33.34.
USC’s Dylan Carter finished a close second with a time of 1:31.98, while Stanford’s Grant Shoults took the bronze with a time of 1:33.74.
Long Gutierrez of Cal turned in a 1:33.80 for fourth overall, followed by USC’s Reed Malone and his time of 1:34.01.
Cal’s Kyle Coan and Michael Jensen finished sixth and seventh with times of 1:34.36 and 1:34.61 respectively.
Austin Phillips of Utah rounded out the top eight with a time of 1:34.78.

Carsten Vissering of USC delivered the top time in the men’s 100 breast, powering to a top time of 51.45. Vissering’s time moves him to fourth in the rankings for the 2016-17 season.
Arizona’s Blair Bish picked up a narrow second place win over Cal’s Connor Hoppe. Bish stopped the clock at a 52.32 over Hoppe’s 52.38.
Christian Lorenz of ASU finished fourth overall with a 52.63, followed by Stanford’s Matt Anderson’s 52.70.
Cal’s Carson Sand (52.84), USC’s Steven Stumph (53.01), and Cal’s Matt Whittle (53.49) completed the top eight.

Ryan Murphy of Cal blasted past the competition in finals of the men’s 100 back, finishing .47 seconds ahead of the competition with a 44.76. That time sits just shy of his 2016-17 season best of 44.61 set in early December.
ASU’s Richard Bohus finished second overall with a time of 45.23, improving upon his season best of 46.00.
Ralf Tribuntsov of USC picked up third with a time of 45.60, followed by Stanford’s Ryan Dudzinski and his time of 45.88.
Andrew Liang of Stanford was fifth with a 46.17, while Arizona’s Thomas Anderson took sixth with a 46.31.
Utah’s Paul Ungur and Justin McArthur were seventh and eighth with times of 46.32 and 46.51.

The Cal men improved upon their 2016-17 season best of 3:03.82. Ryan Murphy (44.91), Andrew Seliskar (52.08), Matthew Josa (44.90), and Michael Jensen (41.56) posted a combined time of 3:03.45 for first.
ASU’s Richard Bohus (44.95), Christian Lorenz (52.76), Andrew Porter (44.78), and Cameron Craig powered to a close second place finish of 3:03.63.
Ryan Dudzinski (46.12), Matt Anderson (52.06), Andrew Liang (45.00), and Sam Perry (41.32) of Stanford finished third overall with a time of 3:04.50.
USC grabbed fourth with a time of 3:04.51, followed by Arizona and their time of 3:07.18.
Arizona’s ‘B’ and ‘C’ relays finished sixth and seventh respectively with times of 3:12.81 and 3:14.94, while Cal’s ‘B’ relay was eighth with a time of 3:18.90.
