Indian River State College doubled up the second-place South Georgia State College in both the men’s and women’s team races at the 2016 NJCAA Championships.
IRSC is looking to win its 42nd men’s and 34th women’s NJCAA team titles.

Women’s 200 free relay
IRSC took down the NJCAA record in the event as Tayla Lovemore (22.47), Osianna McReed (23.08), Yasmine Ware (23.53) and Leah Sims (23.31) clocked a 1:32.39. That swim beat the time of 1:32.78 set by the same squad back in November.
Lincoln’s Aunyx Ashby, Madison Westhoff, Christina Vance and Madi Ewald placed second in 1:39.64 with South Georgia State’s Nikki Daley, Tatiana Keohan, Courtney Britt and Carolyn Ives claiming third in 1:40.25.

IRSC’s Danny Hartley (21.00), Gavin Erdmann (19.98), John Fauteux (19.61) and Joey Sedacca (20.40) won the finale by a wide margin with a time of 1:20.99. That was still well short of the NJCAA record of 1:17.70 keyed by Brad Tandy of IRSC back in 2012.
Southwestern Oregon’s Thomas Crawford, Carlos McClerkin, Wyatt Engler and Thomas Reams placed second in 1:25.01 with Iowa Central’s Lucas Wittman, Thomas Kappe, Nicholas Brunelli and Badr Benassila snaring third in 1:26.02.

IRSC swept the top three spots again with Olivia Jacobi leading the way with a 4:28.22. Madisyn Lyons (4:30.79) and Grace Lynch (4:37.50) collected the other podium spots.
Barbara Caraballo’s 2014 NJCAA record of 4:18.65 remained in the books, and likely will be there for quite awhile.

Women’s 100 fly
The River rolled with a top-five sweep in the 100 fly. Reminiscent of Texas’ domination of the men’s 100-yard fly at the 2015 NCAA Championships, IRSC blasted the 100 fly.
Tayla Lovemore won in 54.05, less than a second back of Yurie Nakano’s NJCAA record of 53.27 from 2013. Yasmine Ware (56.03), Osianna McReed (57.09), Morgan Holt (57.61) and Kamryn Gallowich (57.94) all broke 58 to score for Indian River.

IRSC’s Nicholas Loomis claimed the title in 47.31 with teammate Jairo Emer finishing second in 48.81. Iowa Central’s Lucas Wittman turned in a third-place time of 50.87.
Stefan Stojmenovic’s 2015 NJCAA record of 46.99 withstood Loomis’ challenge.

Monroe’s Tamara Miler claimed her second title of the meet with a 1:51.96. Last night, she won the 1000 free as she’s been the lone person to break through the IRSC stranglehold on NJCAA titles.
IRSC’s Sarah Neely (1:55.71), Sarah Dostie (1:55.96) and Leah Sims (1:56.14) finished second through fourth.
Yurie Nakano’s 1:47.75 from 2014 will remain the NJCAA record.
