2016 NCAA Division II Nationals: Day 2 Prelims Live Recap
It was another fast morning at the 2016 NCAA Division II Nationals in Indianapolis. Tampa started off the morning session by breaking their own DII men’s 200 free relay record in 1:17.78.
The Queens women will look to maintain their sizable lead after qualifying six swimmers and two relays to swim in tonight’s finals. Drury, who currently sits in second in the team rankings, has six swimmers and one relay swimming again tonight.
On the men’s side, Queens will look to widen their lead as they have five swimmers and two relays racing again in finals. Lindenwood, who is a close second, will have four swimmers and two relays swimming tonight.

Women’s 200 Free Relay
Wayne State’s Lezlie Bieno Estrada (23.47), Emilt Heitchue (23.08), Makayla Myers (22.92), and Ellyson Maleski (22.98) will take the top seed heading into tonight’s final. They finished in 1:32.45.
UC-San Diego’s Colleen Daley, Anshanika Phetbenjakul, Haley Murphy, and Natalie Tang finished a close second in 1:32.53. Wingate’s Armony Dumur, Caitlin Cughlin, Rita Koryukova, and Ana Fish took third in 1:32.67.
LIU Post (1:32.83), Truman State (1:32.89), Queens (1:32.97), Drury (1:33.00), and Bridgeport (1:33.37) completed the top eight.

Men’s 200 Free Relay
Tampa’s Martin Hammer (19.67), Jordan Augier (19.43), Khalid Aldaboos (19.57), and Jeremy Parker (19.11) will take the top seed in the event with a time of 1:17.78, beating the field by over two seconds. Tampa was the only school with all four swimmers under 20 seconds. Their time broke the previous record of 1:18.82 they set earlier this season.
Drury’s Daniel Rzadkowski, Aaron Buckingham, Walter Ross, and Rodrigo Careers took second in 1:19.90. Lindenwood’s Sergehei Golban, Michal Szczukowski, Jared Thornton, and Ross Watson finished third in 1:20.26.
Florida Tech (1:20.32), Florida Southern (1:20.33), Delta State (1:20.36), Missouri S&T (1:20.56), and Saint Leo (1:20.57) rounded out the top eight.

After a record-setting day yesterday in the 200 IM, Queens’ Patricia Castro Ortega will be the top seed tonight with a time of 4:12.47. She’ll aim to break her own DII record of 4:09.93 she set last month.
Queens’ Caroline Arakelian took second in 4:19.31 and Wingate’s Sofia Petrenko finished third in 4:20.39.
Lynn’s Rebecca Matthews (4:20.45), Lindenwood’s Alecia McGillivray (4:21.86), Drury’s Gretchen Stein (4:22.82), Grand Valley’s Samantha Postmus (4:23.15), and Delta State’s Melanie Tombers (4:23.61) are also in the top eight.

Lindenwood’s Cristian Vasquez took second in 3:50.66 and Truman State’s Will Shanel finished third in 3:50.89.
Lindenwood’s Feliz Eigel (3:51.69), Northern Michigan’s Ryan Leonard (3:52.16), Cal Baptist’s Joshua Hanson (3:52.46), Nova Southeastern’s Marco Aldabe (3:52.88), and West Chester’s Michael Oliver (3:53.33) round out the top eight.

Wingate’s Viktoriya Arkhipova (54.84), Jessika Weiss (1:02.27), Dumur (53.07), and Fish (50.90) took the top seed in 3:41.08 ahead of the current DII record holders.
Queens’ Peiffer, Brittney Phelan, Castro-Ortega, and Stevens, the current DII record holders in the event, took second in 3:41.50. Delta State’s Anastasia Klyarovskaya, Kirsten Stroven, Danielle Dugas, and Chloe Bennett finished third in 3:44.21.
Wayne State (3:44.62), LIU Post (3:44.86), UC-San Diego (3:44.99), Grand Valley (3:46.51), and Findlay (3:47.03) will also swim in the top eight tonight.
