#2 Texas Swimming And Diving Defeats #12 SMU, 142-130
From UT – AUSTIN, TEXAS – The No. 2 ranked University of Texas men’s swimming and diving team wrapped up its dual-meet season with a 142-130 defeat of No. 12 Southern Methodist, Saturday night at Perkins Natatorium in Dallas, Texas. The Longhorns finish the regular season at 7-2, while SMU falls to 4-3 overall.
Freshman Nate Dusing (Villa Hills, Ky.) paced the Longhorns with wins and NCAA consideration standards in both the 200-yard butterfly (1:47.25) and the 100-yard backstroke (49.33). Sophomore Jon Younghouse (Cape Girardeau, Mo.) recorded victories in the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:24.51) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:31.87), while freshman Grant Gritzmacher (Essex, Conn.) led the divers with wins on the one-meter springboard (319.72) and three-meter springboard (325.87). Both of Gritzmacher’s scores met the NCAA qualification standard.
