TUCSON, Ariz. – Doug Northway, 42, the 1972 Olympic bronze medalist in the 1500m freestyle, pleaded guilty to attempted molestation of a 9-year-old Tucson, Ariz., girl. He faces 5 to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced June 20 by Pima County (Ariz.) Superior Court Judge Michael Cruikshank. But there’s also a possibility that he could receive probation. Court records don’t say how Northway met or knew the girl, or where the alleged attempted molestation occurred.
