#13 Texas Women’s Swimming and Diving Falls to #5 Arizona, Defeats Washington in Double Dual Meet
From UT – TUCSON, AZ – The No. 13 University of Texas women’s swimming and diving team defeated Washington, 210-105, but fell to No. 5 Arizona, 190-165, Saturday afternoon in Tucson, AZ.
Notching individual wins for the Longhorns (3-5) against Arizona were senior Ashley Hudler (Houston, Texas) in the 100yd breaststroke (1:05.18) and junior Erin Maher (Richardson, Texas) with an NCAA consideration mark in the 100yd backstroke (55.98). Texas’ 200yd medley relay of Maher, Hudler, sophomore Shona Kitson (Windsor, Ontario) and freshman Colleen Lanné (Tucson, Ariz.) also placed first (1:44.65).
Versus Washington, sophomore Ariadne Legendre (Montreal, Quebec) won the 400yd individual medley (4:34.81), Lanné took the 200yd freestyle (1:52.92) and the 100yd freestyle (51.13), Kitson placed first in the 100yd butterfly (57.22) and the 200yd butterfly (2:05.98), and junior Sara Schlegelmilch (Red Wing, Minn.) claimed the 200yd breaststroke (2:21.14). Against the Huskies, Texas also won the 200yd medley relay, the 800yd freestyle relay (7:36.05), and the 400yd freestyle relay (3:29.43).
