11 World Masters Records Fall at Pacific Masters Champs

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., July 15. ELEVEN world records, 16 U.S. national records and 29 Pacific Masters records were broken at the Pacific Masters Long Course Championships, held July 11-13th at the University of Santa Cruz overlooking the Pacific ocean on a
beautiful California weekend.
On the women's side, Suzanne Heim-Bowen, 45-49, set world records in the 400m free (4:49.62), the 800m free (9:54.37), and the 1500m free (18:41.68).
Margery Meyer, 80-84, kept pace with world records
in the 200, free (3:37.14), 400m free (7:30.34), and the 800m free (15:21.62).
Jackie Marr, 60-64, broke national standards in the 200m free (2:41.27), 800m free (11:46.43), 200 IM (3:09.34), and the 400 IM (6:36.99) and a world record in the 400m free (5:43.02).
On the men's side, Tod Spieker, 55-59, broke two world records, the 200m free (2:12.72) and the 400m free (4:38.81).
Richard Burns, 60-64, lowered his previous world record-breaking effort in the 100m backstroke record to 1:11.96.
David Boatwright set his first world record, as he swam to a 40-44 mark of 24.14 for the 50 free.
Setting national records were: Ed Cazalet, 60-64, 200m backstroke (2:43.30); and Aldo da Rosa (85-89) in the 200m breastroke (4:25.31).
