Virginia State Champion HT Tragle Commits to In-State Hokies

NEW COMMIT: Virginia Tech has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond, this time from in-state standout HT Tragle of Leesburg, Va.

He will join Jakub Poliacik and Danny Bishop as a member of the Hokies’ Class of 2028.

He told Swimming World:

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at Virginia Tech! I would like to thank my family, coaches, and teammates. I am so grateful to Coach Sergio, Coach Albert and the entire Virginia Tech staff for welcoming me to this incredible family! Go Hokies!”

Tragle does his club swimming with Nation’s Capital Swim Club and most recently competed at Richmond Futures where he placed 18th in both the 100m fly and 100m free after winning the former event at Potomac Valley Seniors. He had a great showing at NCSA Championships in March, earning four best times and placing 18th in the 100m free.  

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.76
  • 200 fly – 1:49.26 
  • 100 fly – 49.70
  • 100 free – 45.18
  • 200 free – 1:39.36
  • 200 IM – 1:52.85
  • 50m free – 24.24 
  • 100m fly – 56.58
  • 100m free – 52.68

Currently a senior at Riverside High School, Tragle won the 50 free and 100 free at the Virginia Class 5 State Championships in 2023. He took seventh and first, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.
