YNats Finalist Cleopatra Lim Verbally Commits to Columbia
NEW COMMIT: Cleopatra Lim, a senior at Tenafly High School, has given her verbal commitment to Columbia University. She joins Yanran Le and Madison Leblanc in the Lions’ Class of 2022. Swimming for Wyckoff YMCA, Lim has been a multiple event YMCA Nationals finalist in both short course and long course.
At last spring’s short course championship she was 19th in the 200 fly and 24th in the 200 IM. This summer Lim continued to move up, touching 11th in the 200 fly and 13th in the 100 fly. In the IMs, she finished 14th in the 200 and 15th in the 400.
Her best SCY times include:
- 100 Fly 55.62
- 200 Fly 2:02.47
- 200 IM 2:04.40
- 400 IM 4:24.19
Lim should continue to be a finalist in the Ivy League where her best times in the 400 IM and 200 fly would have earned her B final swims. She could have been a 100 fly and 200 IM C finalist for the Lions.
She wrote in her announcement made on Instagram,
“I am so overwhelmingly happy to share my verbal commitment to swim at Columbia University!!! To my hardworking parents, my brother, my Wyckoff family, my friends, and my coaches: you are all pieces of my smile today. I am so psyched to be able to continue living and continue learning from my professors, my Lion team, and the 8.5 million people of the greatest city in the world. Very proud to be wearing blue #ROAR #LadyLion #CUWSD22”
*IVY LEAGUE DISCLAIMER:* A “verbal commitment” does not guarantee admission. An Ivy League coach cannot guarantee admission but can only commit support in the admissions process.
