Virginia Tech Gets Verbal From In-State Versatile Swimmer Dylan Eichberg
The Virginia Tech men have added a fourth verbal commitment to the class of 2022. Dylan Eichberg of Fredericksburg, VA, has verbally committed to the Hokies. He swims for the Rappahannock Area YMCA and attends Stafford Senior High School.
The high school junior is a versatile swimmer. His best times are:
- 100 Fly 49.99
- 200 Fly 1:47.37
- 200 Breast 2:01.98
- 200 Free 1:39.88
- 200 IM 1:49.85
- 400 IM 3:55.04
He’s seen recent improvement, posting lifetime bests in the 200 butterfly and breaststroke and both IMs at NCSA Junior Nationals in March. Eichberg is right on the edge of ACC scoring in the 200 butterfly, with over a year to go until he arrives in Blacksburg. His best time would have made him the first alternate this year. He’ll overlap for one year with Norbert Szabo (1:44.73), the Hokies’ highest finisher in the event.
Eichberg explained his choice,
“I am thrilled to announce my commitment to swim at Virginia Tech. I chose this school because it fits my needs academically and athletically. The coaching staff and team were welcoming and I look forward to being a Hokie.”
Eichberg joins a class that already includes Ben Hicks, Alex Wright and Keith Myburgh. The group should be a strong IM training crew, as Hicks, Wright and Eichberg are within a second of one another in the 400 IM.
