GOLD COAST, Australia, August 24. A possible world record from Katie Ledecky in the women’s 1500 freestyle, a Japan-USA battle in the men’s 200 individual medley and an Australia-USA war in the medley relays will highlight the final night of competition at the Pan Pacific championships.
Kevin Cordes has elected to withdraw from the 200 breast championship final, presumably in order to be ready for the 400 medley relay. Cordes was the second qualifier for the final behind teammate Nic Fink, and Cordes’ scratch brings Americans Josh Prenot into the A final and Cody Miller into the B final. The 200 breast final is scheduled to begin at 8:41 p.m. local time, just 23 minutes before the 400 medley relay.
The men’s 800 freestyle will start tonight’s competition. Also on the docket is the 50 freestyle, which will feature a possible Aussie 1-2 in the women’s race and an American sweep on the men’s side. The racing begins at 6:45 p.m. local time (4:45 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, 1:45 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time). Click the images below to view the heat sheets!
