USA Swimming Trials: Day One Expert Analysis
Editorial Coverage provided by
Shortly after the completion of the first night of finals at USA Swimming Trials in Omaha, Neb., Swimming World‘s David Rieder and SwimVortex’s John Lohn broke down the entire first night of racing, which included one major upset and one epic race where the eventual winner never led until the final 25 meters.
Somehow, the one American record that fell during the session ended up a total afterthought.
Watch the video below to see two full-on swim geeks discussing discussing how Chase Kalisz, Jay Litherland, Connor Jaeger, Conor Dwyer, Maya DiRado and Elizabeth Beisel earned spots on the Olympic team—and how Ryan Lochte, Townley Haas and others were shut out, at least for now.
Rieder and Lohn also previewed what is to come on day two—which will not feature 18-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps.
