Simona Quadarella Charges to 9th in World With 1500 Free Meet Mark at 2015 FINA World Junior Championships

Italy’s Simona Quadarella crushed the meet record in the women’s 1500-meter free at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.

Quadarella won the event in a time of 16:05.61.  That swim demolished the 2011 meet record of 16:18.63 set by Slovenia’s Tjasa Oder in Lima, Peru.

The swim pushed Quadarella to ninth in the world rankings.

USA rounded out the rest of the podium as Sierra Schmidt finished second in 16:12.84, also under the meet record, and Gabrielle Kopenski took third in 16:21.15.

Australia’s Tamsin Cook (16:22.92), Hungary’s Adel Juhasz (16:24.29), Italy’s Linda Caponi (16:34.06), Canada’s Olivia Anderson (16:37.03) and Hungary’s Janka Juhasz (16:38.31) closed out the top eight in the timed final event.
