Sharon van Rouwendaal Propels to Fourth in World Rankings of 1500 Free
Sharon van Rouwendaal turned in an impressive 1500-meter free during day two of the Romanian National Championships to move herself up to fourth in the world rankings for that event for 2015.
Van Rouwendaal dominated the competition in the women’s 1500-meter free, turning in a smoking 16:03.37 for first. Her time moves her from fifteenth (16:15.09) in the world rankings up to fourth. Emilia Colti Dumitrescu finished second with a 17:53.57, while Elena Gabriela Dragomir rounded out the top three with a time of 18:25.60.
Top Five World Rankings: Women’s 1500 Free
Ahmed Mathlouthi turned in an 8:03.31 to win the men’s 800-meter free. Benoit Debaset finished second with a time of 8:09.54, while Alin Alexandru Artimon was third with an 8:13.24.
Marius Radu won the men’s 100-meter free with a final time of 49.61. Daniel Macovei took second with a 50.15, while Robert Andrei Glinta was third with a 50.74.
Ionela Cozma took the women’s 100-meter free with a 56.91. Laure Poulet was second overall with a time of 58.01, while Rebecca Maria Pojar finished third with a 59.84.
Andrei Cristian Roman won the men’s 100-meter breaststroke with a 1:04.44. Sarac Ionut Alin claimed second with a 1:06.31. Andreas Dinca rounded out the top three with a 1:07.25.
Florina Alexandra Ilie posted a 1:12.69 to win the women’s 100-meter breaststroke. Simona Alex Savastita (1:14.42) and Andreea Puchiu (1:14.95) finished second and third respectively.
Alexandru Coci claimed first in the men’s 200-meter fly with a 1:59.78. George Eduard Barbu was second overall with a 2:06.19, while Daniel Cristian Martin took third with a 2:06.89.
Van Rouwendaal won her second event of the day in the women’s 200-meter fly posting a finishing time of 2:14.28. Bianca Izabella Raduta finished second with a 2:18.77, while Kata Korponay rounded out the top three with a 2:21.95.
