Sean Grieshop Upsets Brandonn Almeida for 400 IM Gold at 2015 FINA World Junior Championships
USA’s Sean Grieshop upset World Junior-record holder Brandonn Almeida of Brazil in the men’s 400-meter IM at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.
Grieshop overtook Almeida down the stretch with a 4:15.67 for the win. Almeida, meanwhile, settled for silver with a 4:17.06.
Almeida had been much faster this year with a World Junior record 4:14.47 at the Pan American Games in Toronto last month.
Spain’s Hugo Gonzalez finished third in 4:18.14, while USA’s Charlie Swanson wound up fourth in 4:20.37.

[table “” not found /]Hungary’s Daniel Sos finished fifth in 4:20.46 with Russia’s Nikolay Sokolov placing sixth in 4:21.17.
China’s Wang Zhou (4:25.41) and Portugal’s Joao Vital (4:26.12) closed out the rest of the championship field.
